Partnering with UMinho on GRS Journey

We are happy to announce that we are once again taking baby steps towards becoming more environmentally friendly. The aim is to be able to work alongside the preservation of nature, going against what the supply chain for clothing and textiles industry used to represent in the past.

Last February 24th another partnership between FLM Textil and the University of Minho started. This partnership urged from the company’s intention of implementing the requirements established by the GRS norm.

The compliance of the international norm Global Recycled Standard allows companies to ensure that their products are produced with minimal impact of the environment, by means of good labor conditions and that fulfill certain characteristics.

Certifications like GRS, require dedication and commitment, both to the management as well as all the organizational structure. They represent a profound need of change in the way that companies are accustomed to work, and stand upon assuming a role of change both in the lives of its employees and in the environment in which it fits.

The goal is not just to be an economic agent, but to be a social agent and to change the paradigm.

This is the responsibility that FLM Textil is more than willing to take and, with the help of students from the University of Minho, hopes to be able to go further and obtain innovative results.

CEO Speaking

Higher education institutions are responsible for training and preparing the entire workforce of the future and it is in the interest of the entire market that these generations are as well prepared as possible, and this clearly includes direct contact with the reality of companies.

In addition, we are facing one of the most qualified generations ever, with creative minds, capable of creating out of the box solutions to the problems of companies from all the different areas, textiles included!

The role of FLM Textil in this partnership is to offer students a useful experience for their training and creative freedom, so that in return they can present feasible proposals that meet our needs.

Meeting - All participants

The final objective is to obtain interesting ideas and solutions for issues related to all aspects of sustainability, including proposals to improve the quality of our employee’s life; to reduce and reuse waste; to improve the process of storing materials; and automating logistics and packaging processes.

It is also expected that a policy of ethics and social responsibility will be fully adapted to the reality of the company. This being the main objective of the entire process.
